(Al-Baqara) 2 : 264

Oh you who believed, you don’t make your charities futile by showing generosity and hurting just like the one who spends his wealth as showboating to mankind, and not believing with Lord Allah and the Day of Judgment. Then his similitude is that of a smooth rock having some soil upon it, then it is affected with heavy rain, then left bare. They can do nothing from whatever they earned, Allah doesn’t guide such disbelieving people.

Whoever spends money on charity, his aim should be to get a reward near the Lord. But the Arabic Quran reading Fujjar are spending in charity for getting fame and respect in this world. It is told in verse 63: 4 about these hypocrites: “Even believers will get attracted to their words, they are gathering people into Satan’s house Hell. They are the enemies of believers, Messenger, and Impartial Lord”. Whoever spends money for getting fame and respect in this world without believing with the Oft-observer Lord and the Day of Judgment, their all deeds are in vain. It is told in verses 9: 53-54: “Whether willingly or unwillingly, the charity of Fujjar will never be accepted from them; indeed they are being a transgressing people. And nothing prevents them from accepting their charities except that they are hiding Lord and His Messenger in the Book, and that they don’t come to prayer except with laziness, and that they don’t spend except by hating it”.

The believer who testifies Adhikr can be the proud representatives of the Lord as taught by the Book and they have been teaching others as explained in verse 3: 79. The one in thousand believers can only be included in the single Party of Lord which is the Straightpath. And they will only inherit Paradise for their worthwhile life in this world. Verse 9: 37 also ends as: "Allah doesn’t guide such disbelieving people”. See explanation 2: 186; 3: 110 and 4: 82.
